Children's Book Societies and Writer Organizations

So many exciting Children's Book Societies and Writer Organizations, and so little time.

Today I went to a Publishers and Writers organization of San Diego meeting. I had such a great time! It was so nice to be at an event with fellow writers. The event/meeting was about ways to have a book event or book signing outside of the bookstore, which I found very interesting.

I liked the meeting so much that I joined the organization. I am now an official member and I am excited for the next meeting, which takes place next month.

I also ran into a lady that I met at a writer's society event last weekend. The nice lady's name is Judy C. Smith and she is the author of a cute children's picture book, "Egree's Journey," which is about how an Egret discovers God's love and grace for all His creatures.

Last weekend the society was Delta Mu Delta. Well, they are actually a business honor society that put on a Writer's Expo at the University of Phoenix, which authors attended for a book signing. There were also writer workshops held at the event. I went to the expo with my Dad who is the author of "The Visionaries' Key to the Future," which is a sci-fi time travel novel for adults, not children.

At the expo I met several authors, which included children book authors. I had no idea there would be children book authors there, I thought there would only be authors of novels. I met Patrick Seraphin, author of "The Little Lion and Lioness" and "The Boy with the Hat." I also met Bree Clausen, author & illustrator of "Bubba the Bulldog Tries to Smile."

I am loving all the networking that can be had at these writers organizations and societies. It also feels great to belong to an organization; given that writing is such a solitary activity. The societies have inspired and motivated me on this children's book journey.

The next society event I am thinking about attending is the be-all and end-all for children's book authors, the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators
